Overview

The Alpine is Rep Fitness's step-up Olympic weightlifting bar, positioned above the Gladiator for lifters who want a more refined, competition-oriented tool. The 28mm shaft meets the men's IWF specification and is tuned for high whip, storing and returning energy through the pull in a way that experienced weightlifters use to their advantage on snatches and clean-and-jerks. The defining feature is the bearing system: precision needle bearings deliver fast, smooth, consistent sleeve rotation that lets the bar spin freely in the hands during the turnover of a clean or the catch of a snatch, protecting the wrists and keeping the lift fluid. Knurling is moderate and there is no center knurl, keeping the bar comfortable across the back of the neck and chest in front rack and overhead positions. Hard-chrome plating over the shaft and sleeves provides solid corrosion resistance and a smooth, durable surface. With dual knurl marks and a high tensile rating, it is built to handle serious training volume. The Alpine is overkill for someone who only squats and benches, and its loose spin and whippy shaft are wrong for powerlifting, but for a dedicated weightlifter building a home platform it offers near-competition performance at a price well below imported competition bars.
