The PowerBlock Elite EXP 50 is the version most serious home lifters point newcomers toward, because it balances range, durability, and a clear upgrade path better than almost anything in the category. Out of the box each block covers 5 to 50 pounds per hand using the selector-pin system, and a small magnetic adder pin lets you fine-tune in smaller steps between the main increments. What makes the EXP line special is expandability: the same blocks accept Stage 2 and Stage 3 kits that push the top end to 70 and ultimately 90 pounds per hand, so you can start at 50 and grow without rebuying the base unit. The construction is noticeably tougher than the budget Sport line, with steel weight plates, a urethane-coated handle area, and a frame engineered to survive years of daily selection. The nesting design keeps the load tight to your hand and the footprint small, while the included compact base makes pin changes easier and keeps the blocks tidy. The U-handle remains an acquired taste, and a fully expanded set becomes a real investment, but for a buy-once-expand-later philosophy the Elite EXP is the smartest pick PowerBlock makes.
